Donovan Turner will be on a warpath this spring in the short hurdles

110HH-

2018 State Champion: Sam Conger (Batavia) 14.02

Key Athletes: Donovan Turner (Sr., Naperville [Neuqua Valley]), Victor Cameron (Sr., Crete-Monee), JT Lowder (Sr., Oak Park-River Forest), Robert Williams (Sr., Springfield), Koren Leonard (Sr., Oak Park-River Forest), Jahari Stubbs (Sr., Elgin [Larkin]), Cameren Stevens (Jr., Belleville West), Mychah Spells (Jr., Tinley Park [Andrew]), Kyle Burke (Sr., Plainfield North), PJ Rodriguez (Jr., Hoffman Estates)

Breakdown: This will be a top-heavy event in the Land of Lincoln with three of the top five performers returning. Donovan Turner enters the year as the #1 contender running a wind-legal time of 14.04- returning time in the state and 19th best in the country.

Victor Cameron is not too far behind Turner as the second best returning time in the state. Cameron will be expected to take on more of a workload this year as he looks to help his team score as many points as possible.

JT Lowder had a breakout year last year and has shown in pre-season meets that he is ready to shake things up in this event. Lowder will carry a heavy workload for the Huskies who always seem to win conference titles and pack a ton of cargo to the state meet.  Lowder's teammate, Koren Leonard, is looking for a huge year as well in the short hurdles and possibly earning the title as the state's top overall hurdler. Half of arguably Illinois' best hurdle duo, Leonard set his goal as sub 14 seconds in this race which appears he can do given his preseason returns.

Robert Williams is not someone to be forgotten as he returns with a sub 14.50 mark to his name. The Springfield Senator will carry the central Illinois flag and will attempt to pull off the hurdle double, this event will be his first crack at.
