Marcellus Moore Leads Explosive 3A Boys Sprints Preview

This could be one of the classic 100m fields of all-time led by Marcellus Moore

100m-

2018 State Champion: Marcellus Moore (Plainfield North) 10.31

Breakdown: It was a magical year for the one passionately known as "Baby Holyfield." Last season he thrust his name into the conversation of one of the best sprinters in Illinois history. The catapult to this? An IL#1 all-time mark in the state meet last year. It is very hard to see anyone come close to Moore this year in the state as his eyes will be on a national title. As a build-up to the outdoor season, Moore currently leads the nation in the 60m (6.75). Along with training with his high school coach Tony Holler, Moore has also been putting in work with the longtime great coach Thomas Boatright of the Aurora Flyers Track Club. Along with the usual greatness from Moore, is his smile and star brand quality that he is building. He continues to keep killing them all softly.

Jermarrion Stewart has been somewhat slept on during the Marcellus Moore era. But when the stories are told of greatness down the line Stewart's line will be called. He will be looking to close that gap on Moore and making a national presence of his own. There is no doubt that he will be better than 10.62 when the dust clears.

Joshua Bridges is said to be on his "revenge tour" according to his social medial platforms. But more important than talk is getting the job done when it counts. To Bridges demise, he had an excellent indoor campaign last season followed by a head-turning 10.66 performance out at the Mt. Carmel (CA) Invitational, then the injury happened. Now healthy, he and partner in crime Jesuseun Adeyiga will be feeding off of each other all season long. They may be one of the best 1-2 combos in a very long time in this state.

According to Coach Cambron Culpepper, Cedric Rowzee has really stepped out as a leader of the Tigers sprints crew this offseason and looks to be in the best shape of his life. While having a great junior year in the 100m by taking 7th place at state, Rowzee was unable to PR from his sophomore campaign and that had to drive him nuts and fuel him.
