Opening thoughts:
The Palatine Invitational goes way back in terms of tradition. The rich tradition originally started as a frosh-soph meet in 1971 and then moved to a full varsity meet in 1984. Elmhurst (York) boys came on the scene and dominated with team titles- 13. The Dukes have staged this invitational as their season bookmark for many years thereafter.
Last year the conditions were so oppressive that meet officials moved the start times up to beat the heat. This time things should be more traditional for clime feelings. The Mercury should be in the upper 50s and lower 60s and that will be a welcome sign for the fans and especially the athletes.
