IL Arcadia Participants Look To Unthaw in California

The open portion of the meet will have a few gems in for the fans (Mary Ann Magnant photo)

Saturday Open-

The open section is more or less emerging athletes and teams. Don't get it twisted though, times are good and if you pay attention you may see tomorrow's next big star.

  • Boys 4x100 (11:30a): Neuqua Valley will kick off the morning session on the strength of Myles Gascon, Kevin Sager, Dan Gaynes, Chris Muoghalu. The state leading 41.74 by E. St. Louis Sr. may be out of question but sub 43 seconds should be realistic. If so that would put the Wildcats in the top five by the end of the weekend.
  • Boys 1 Mile (12:50p): Vince Zona is slated to run for Lyons. No predictions here if he runs well in Friday's 4x mile relay. It is often hard to return after a late night event especially in beautiful California in April.
  • Boys 800 (2:15p): Isaiah Robinson of Neuqua Valley and Andrew Best (Sr., Lyons) will take their shots individually here. Robinson could be in line as the next great half miler from his school. Best on the other hand broke 2:00 during the indoor season.
  • Boys 400 (3:00p): Jaquere Williams gets his first individual taste for the Wildcats of Neuqua Valley. He will have an opportunity to showcase his talents after transferring from Waubonsie Valley.
  • Boys DMR: This is coach Kennedy's projected line up ---> Ryan Kennedy, Ryan Lukas, Aidan Livingston, Patrick Wolak... but it could change. Sub 10:30 is a sharp time to go for.
