Anna Sophia, Curtis Gordon Shine In 1A Top Times Championship

  • Anna Sophia Keller is a legend in the making. Keller is now healthy and healthy. It showed as she toed the line in the 800. Keller got out a bit tardy hitting the 400 in 67.4. Keller was biding time on the field and charge to the lead just before the bell lap in 1:42. Anna Sophia got it going on the anchor lap and pulled away against Mariah Brodie (Jr., Illini West). The time of 2:15.98 is Illinois #2. Several hours later ASK was back in her favorite event the 1600. It was over before it started for the phenom. Keller took the first half in 2:28. It was all turnover for the second half and meet record 4:52.12.
  • The lightly raced Jenny Kimbro (Sr., Jamaica) entered the 60HH finals with the #1 time. It was the smooth sailing 8.84 that was the same time as her prelim. 
  • KD Young made it three wins in a row for the shot put heaving 48-4.50. Young won by over four feet.
  • Megan Reed (Sr., Cambridge) grabbed the classification best in the triple jump with a 36-11.25 personal best effort.
  • The #1 seed in the long jump McKendra Barthleme (Sr., Newton) stayed true in beating foe Jenny Kimbro. Kimbo had earlier defeated Barthleme in the hurdles.
  • Colleen Madden (Sr., Carlinville) was the top seed in the 3200m and left as the top seed winning by 17 seconds in 11:30.75.
  • Mercer County won the 4x2 relay after Chicago Luther North ran out of the zone and was DQ'ed. Mercer County improved on their classification best 1:49.96 running 1:49.53....Clifton Central dropped the 4x4 by a ton in 4:09.81..Springfield Lutheran was four seconds better than Deer Creek in 10:04.33.
  • Courtney Sockwell broke the class 60m record in the prelim rocking 7.85. The junior from Rockford Lutheran did not take any prisoners in the final when she lowered the record even more and defeated her friend and defending champion Mariah Woods (South Holland Seton Academy) 7.81-7.96.
