3rd Annual North Lawndale College Prep Boys Invite-

For the second time in three years meet host North Lawndale wins its own invite. Because we are a sprint/hurdle heavy program the goal in setting up this meet was to add other like minded school and we were able to add a few more.

The one school that showed they may be back is Morgan Park. The Mustangs had great numbers on both the varsity and frosh level. In addition to Morgan Park sprint heavy Dunbar was in attendance which meant we would see an early season show down between two of the CPS brightest stars in raining 100m and 200m city champ Terry McGee of North Lawndale and Demoria Harris of Dunbar.

Terry wanted to prove that he was still king of the hill in the CPS and he did that with an 11.02-11.03 win over Mr. Harris. The 200m dash saw Demoria get a little revenge as he was able to take a very windy 200m win in 22.95 over Terry.

As meet director I wanted to showcase some of top talent in Chicago and one young man who doesn't get nearly the amount of respect or press as he should is Mr. Jeremiah Watson of Urban Prep. Jeremiah is a tall but quiet young man who goes about his business in a very professional manner. All he did was go out and run the states fastest 400m time in 49.44. He should be getting more respect now.

Imani Payton of North Lawndale was the meets only double winner by winning both the 110HH (15.24) and 300IH (39.40). The meet title came down to the overall depth of Morgan Park to the double-point capabilities of the smaller North Lawndale and North Lawndale was able to pull out a slim victory to take the team trophy back to the west side.

Closing note: North Lawndale and our track program would like to thank all the schools that came out to our two meets and made the two events great. Until next year, folks enjoy the rest of the season and let's show the rest of the state that we are strong.
