Indoor To Outdoor Transition: Behind The Numbers

  • In the transition from the Indoor 60m to the Outdoor 100m, only one sprinter in the last five years has had the IL#1 indoors and outdoors. That was Cole Henderson of Pekin in 2014.
  • Only two of the last five IL#1 Indoor 60m were State Champions in the 100m that May.
  • Three of the last nine "Top Times" 60m Champions were State Champions in the 100m that May
  • Former Galesburg star Josh Eiker in 2015 and 2016 is the only sprinter in the last five years to be the IL#1 for the Indoor 200m and a State Champion for the 200m in May.
  • Four of the last nine "Top Times" 200m Champion were State Champions in 200m that May
  • Jude Christine of Gateway Legacy Christian Academy was the only person to hold the IL#1 Indoor 400m and Outdoor 400m in the last five years.
  • None of the IL#1 Indoor 400m's have been State Champions in the 400m in the last five years.

  • Only one of the last five IL#1 in the Indoor 60HH was a State champion in the 110H that May. It was Peru (St. Bede) Bret Dannis in 2017.

  • Basketball season is during a good portion of the indoor track season so we don't see some great athletes till the end of March. A great example is Cam Donatlan of West Aurora. His team had a long basketball season, so we only saw him at one meet so far this season
  • Teams like East St. Louis, Sandburg, Edwardsville, and O'Fallon do not race as much as other teams do during the indoor season
