Breaking Down Some Of The Top Events To Watch At Dartmouth Relays

Girls 2-Mile

This is arguably the most competitive -- and deepest -- event at Dartmouth, featuring a host of contenders, including one coming off a top-five performance at Foot Locker Nationals. That would be Exeter (NH) High senior Jacqueline Gaughan, a Notre Dame signee looking to transition her aerobic fitness to the track, where a year ago she went 10:24.32 at New Balance Nationals Indoor.

She'll certainly have some competition, including La Salle Academy (RI) senior Grace Connolly, Bishop Guertin (NH) High sophomore Caroline Fischer, and Niskayuna (NY) High's Abigail Spiers.

Connolly, in particular, had a pretty good cross country season that featured a PR of 17:47.20 at Great American. She went a season-best 10:44.36 last year at the New England Indoor Championships, while Fischer had an up-and-down fall but comes in with a 2-mile PR of 10:41.29.

Spiers shouldn't be overlooked, either. She went 10:16.30 for 3K at the Yale Track Classic a year ago and hit a 4K PR of 14:51.40 at the Manhattan Invitational this fall.
