Charleston Invitational

Eastern Illinois University Charleston, IL
Sep 2, 2017
-Boys: last year top ranked 2A Mahomet-Seymour rode into Charleston and dropped a "Blitzkrieg" on the competition. In other words, they went 1-7 in scoring! It may not happen again as the Bulldogs who are once again ranked #1, will face a much improved Danville squad. The Vikings will put their #8 ranking to the test.
-Girls: The two top teams last year was Mahomet-Seymour and Urbana. MS took that one very easily and they are both favored to once again dominant the competition. #5 Urbana and #6 Mahomet-Seymour are top choice.

Chrisman Cowchip Classic

Chrisman-Scottland Jr. High Chrisman, IL
Sep 2, 2017

-Boys: It form holds this should be a great Class A affair and an early test for some of the best teams and individuals in the state. #1 St. Joe-Ogden will be locked and loaded  with their "A" team. The Spartans are the defending champs and they will be hard to beat even w/o the graduated Justin Phillps. #19 Robinson and #21 Champaign (St. Thomas More) will be in the mix. Individually, it will be the wonder child Logan Hall's (Sr., Arthur) season debut. Hall, the defending champ, may take it easy after shaking loose of the competition, Alex Helmuth (Sr., Monticello) will try his best in pressuring Hall.

-Girls: Gone is the 4-time champion Alex Sophia Keller of St. Anthony. Though last year's runner up Areille Summitt is the top returner from Urbana University, the top ranked Spartans of St. Joe-Ogden is the time to watch.

Lions Pride Invitational

Western Springs , IL
Sep 2, 2017
-Boys: This invite has always attracted quality teams but the all out effort as a whole has not always been 100%. #15 Lyons, #6 Maine South, #10 Sandburg, and #16 Downers South could make this a super one. Danny Kilrea (Lyons) and Dylan Jacobs (Sandburg) are good friends and two of the nation's top harriers.

-Girls: Indiana power Valparaiso won here last year. They will be back but it will depend on the health of junior Sarah Barcelona (Lyons) whether or not her team can challenge for the win.

-Boys: #1 Downers Grove North is the heavy favorite here. #11 Marmion Academy, #14 Batavia, #22 Geneva and #23 St. Charles adds depth.

-Girls: #9 Batavia was tipped by #11 Geneva by 4 points last year. it should be another close one. #15 Barrington is back. Individually, look for seniors Jocelyn Long (Barrington) and Audrey Ernst (St. Charles North) to fight for the title.
