Relay Questions Answered

On the boys side, there were two battles going on. One, a battle at the Texas Relays between all of the fast Texas guys. Second, there was a battle between what was going on in Austin, TX and what was also going on in Gainesville, FL.

The 4x200 has been owned by the Texas boys all season. The nations fastest times have been put in week after week by our guys. In Fact, for the last three weeks, the top national spot has been circulating around the state of Texas. It started and made it's home in Lancaster for weeks. Then Manvel took it, closely followed by Port Arthur taking it to the Golden Triangle. On Friday, the George Ranch Longhorns took the title when they ran a 1:25.23 in the 4x200 prelims, but it lasted maybe for only an hour if not minutes.

American Heritage High School from Florida would soon after run a new U.S. #1 1:24.75 to take the 4x200 top spot from George Ranch and the state of Texas. We then asked, can the Texas boys take back the #1 spot in the 4x200

On Saturday, American Heritage proceeded to take the top national spot in the 4x100 with a 40.17, earning them the second national top spot they would take from Texas teams in a span of two days. However, on Saturday, something else also happened. George Ranch who was the top 4x200 team in the nation for only moments wasn't satisfied being #2. They took to the Texas Relays 4x200 finals and among some of Texas' best including a couple of former #1 4x200 teams, raced to the finish line in 1:24.47 to reclaim the national top spot in the 4x200 and bringing that honor back home to TEXAS!
