2017 Class 2A Boys Sprints and Hurdles Preview

"The Plano Reaper" Israel Adeoti at the 2016 state championship

Times have gotten faster in the sprints in Illinois. It is evident in the fact that the best conferences have continually raiding our best athletes. For example, the 100m has transformed into a must watch event over the past three years. There was a time in the early to mid 2000s where under a then two-class system 10.90-11.00 was in play for a state champion. Last year in 2A, it took 10.94 to make the final. Fast kids are running track again. Expect to see the excellence to continue this season.
