2017 Class A Boys Pre-Season Relays Preview

New Berlin showed its depth by winning the 4x2 state title without star Khalil Wassell

4x200m relay-

2016 State Champion: New Berlin 1:29.81

Thoughts and analysis: 3rd place state placer Rushville might be the team to beat at the end of the season. The Rockets return three legs including the all important anchor leg Basile Buckner. 4th placer Aledo (Mercer County) could have something up their sleeves returning their entire quartet. 6th placer Bismarck-Henning has Blake Reifsteck and the whole unit back. Overall, with four state finalist units back near full strength makes this event a must watch in May.

Taylor Rockridge got the final victory of the 2016 state championship

4x400m relay-

2016 State Champion: Taylor Rockridge 3:26.73

Thoughts and analysis: After being warned of a suspected sportsmanship violation that nearly got them disqualified in last year's prelims, the Taylor Rockridge quartet regrouped mentally on Saturday and won a close race over St. Joe-Ogden. The top seven state placers graduate at least two of its regulars which means we will see a new group emerge at the top of the food chain. If none of the top teams can regroup maybe Macon Meridian can be that team with three junior legs returning along with a 8th place medal.
