The past six months have seen a rapidly shifting landscape in the online high school track & field community. In perhaps no other state have those changes been so dramatically felt as in Illinois.
MileSplit has worked diligently during that time to improve its offering and service to the state by adding to resources dedicated to keeping its results database complete and content fresh. As a result, MileSplit Illinois has seen a threefold year-over-year increase in traffic.
As the next chapter in that book, MileSplit is pleased to announce it is teaming up with Tony Jones of Illinois Prepster. Jones will be joining the team of Todd Grasley and David Everett. He will post regularly with insightful commentary and blogs, along with weekly on-site coverage at major meets within the state.
Jones is a well-known figure within the Prairie State. He was one of the key contributors for years to Illinois Prep Top Times and DyeStat IL. This winter he launched his own blog, Illinois Prepster. His personality and passion for the sport give him a unique and authentic voice that will bolster the existing offerings of MileSplit Illinois.
"There are a few great sources of track and field in the great state of Illinois,” Jones said, “I just want to let the great fandom know that I am back in full force. It will be my utmost goal to give you want you want in terms of coverage, honesty, and 100% of raw realness.”
MileSplit founder Jason Byrne believes the addition of Jones will fill the missing piece of the content puzzle, as well as amplify Tony’s voice beyond what he could do on his own.
“Tony has a huge following,” Byrne explains, “and he has been doing great work on his own blog. By working together, we will help give him some additional resources and work as part of a team. We feel good about the direction we’ve been moving already, but have lacked the on-the-ground presence and first-hand perspective that Tony will bring. The picture is now complete!”
Starting this week, Jones will begin to contribute exclusively to MileSplit Illinois--pushing traffic from Illinois Prepster to MileSplit--and the tagline “In partnership with Illinois Prepster” will be affixed to the MileSplit Illinois logo to prominently tie together the affiliation.
Look for Tony this weekend at the Gene Armer Invitational and at the Illinois Prep Top Times Classic next week. Be sure to say “hey!”
