Coach Brent Ericksenis the new Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Coach at Morehead State University.  In his twenty-two years of coaching he has won a pair of national championships, coached in the Olympic Games, guided athletes to 141 All-American honors, and directed teams to numerous top 10 national championship finishes.

 

KYTrackXC.com recently sat down with Coach Ericksen to chat about everything from his background, winning national titles, and philosophies on coaching.

The Great Joe Newton (York, IL) Coaches Corner Mark Rowe Aug 04, 2011

 Joe Newton, at 82 years old, is still coaching cross-country today.  Since 1956, at Elmhurst York High School in Illinois, Newton has been the architect of the greatest high school sports dynasty in history.He remains the only high school cross-country coach to ever be selected onto the United States Olympic track and field staff when he was awarded a position in 1988.  KYTrackXC.com caught up with Coach Newton this afternoon as he was working in his office for the upcoming cross-country season. Coaches Corner: Dan Chelstrom (Dickinson State University) Mark Rowe Jun 04, 2011

 

Coach Dan Chelstromhas coached in the small college ranks for past decade and has connections to Kentucky. Last year he assisted the Owensboro Catholic running programs and previously served as the head coach at Brescia University.

 

A published researcher (running economy) with a graduate background in human performance and applied exercise physiology, Chelstrom is meticulous in crafting training protocols and known for developing athletes and preparing them for State and National level meets.
