AU and NAC SAAC taking the plunge for Special Olympics

AU and the NAC SAAC will plunge on Sat. Feb. 18.

The Aurora University in conjunction with the Northern Athletics Conference Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is organizing a team for all NAC student-athletes and fans at the 2012 Polar Plunge in Madison, Wis., in support of Special Olympics.

The NAC SAAC team will be "Freezin' for a Reason" on Saturday, February 18, at Olin-Turnville Park on the shore of Lake Monona in Madison, Wis. Thus far seven AU SAAC members, Tristan Wilcox, Brooke Spencer, Jess Schumacher, Natalie Jansen, Caitlyn Clay, Kelly Coleman and Maggie Cooper, have stepped forward to accept the challenge to take the plunge.

If registering online, the team name is listed under "Northern Athletics Conference SAAC".

The Polar Plunge is for everyone! With two ways to participate even those who prefer to keep their feet on dry land can support Special Olympics and be a part of all the fun! Event participants can register to take the Plunge or sign up as "Too Chicken to Plunge". "Chickens" can still raise donations and join a team. They will even get their own t-shirt proclaiming "I was Too Chicken to Plunge".

The Madison Polar Plunge offers one day of fun including "Toss your Boss", a post-party at the Coliseum bar with live music, concessions, beverages, souvenirs and contests so don't forget to wear your costumes!

Additionally, the AU and NAC SAAC members will be providing a meal for participants afterwards at Edgewood College.

Interested parties should contact their SAAC representatives on their campus for additional information on participation and transportation.
