AU Track and Field records fall at UW-Whitewater

Gonzalez led the Spartan men to a 4th place finish.
In the first full team meet of the 2012 season at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Rocky Rococo Invitational, the Aurora University Spartan men's and women's track and field teams set three school records on the day.
The Spartan men went on to finish fourth out of 13 teams in the meet with 69 points as 12 individuals and three relay teams scored points.

The AU women finished 10th out of 11 teams with 27 points as seven individuals and the 4x400 meter relay team tallied points.

Leading the way for the men included Jesus Gonzalez who finished second in the weight throw with a throw of 15.23 meters and sixth in the shot put with a throw of 13.16 meters; Kyle Kayzar finished third in the 600 meter dash with a school record time of 1:27.67; Zach Burke finished third in the shot put with a throw of 13.89 meters; Drew Schmitt finished fifth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:09.23 and Eric Capshaw finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.57 meters and sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 13.79 meters.
The Spartan women were led by Brittnay Paller who finished second in the 600 meter dash with a school record time of 1:50.76; Kaylee Swearingen set a school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.24 (preliminary round) and finished fifth; Anna Perkowski finished sixth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 11:33.18; Tracy Mueller finished seventh in the shot put with a throw of 10.62 meters and Ainsley Richards finished seventh in the long jump with a jump of 4.80 meters.

Next action for the Spartan men's and women's indoor track and field teams comes on Saturday, Jan. 28 when they travel to North Central College. Meet time is set for 11 a.m. in Naperville, Ill.
