NORMAL, Ill. (Sept. 16, 2011) -
 The North Central College women's cross country team sent its full squad into competition for the first time in 2011 on Friday, taking seventh place in the 28-team Illinois Intercollegiate Invitational at D.A. Weibring Golf Course, hosted by Illinois State University.

The host Redbirds placed five runners in the top 10 and ran away with the team title, scoring 21 points and outdistancing second-place Bradley University by 82 points. North Central turned in a score of 206, tops among the four College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin teams in the field.

Illinois State's Krista Deceault finished the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in 17 minutes, 9 seconds to win the individual title by 15 seconds. The Cardinals were paced by Alicia Zimmerman, who placed 17th in 18:21. Kala Bingham crossed the line 23rd in 18:31, while Krista Cota came in 31st in 18:41. 

North Central's scoring was completed by Amy Schwent, who placed 71st (19:23), and Maggie Lapinski, who finished 85th (19:36).

The Cardinals will compete in the Wheaton College Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville on Saturday, Sept. 24.
