Official USTFCCCA Release

Aug. 10, 2011--
The North Central College women's track & field squad has been honored for its academic and athletic success on Wednesday, earning the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team Award for the 2011 season.

The Cardinals compiled a team grade point average of 3.37, earning the award for the fifth straight season. North Central's GPA improved for the fourth straight season and posted the highest GPA among the three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin squads honored. Conference rivals Augustana College (3.19 GPA) and Illinois Wesleyan University (3.26) also earned the All-Academic Team Award.

To be eligible for the award, institutions must be USTFCCCA members and compile a team GPA of 3.10 or better. A total of 111 NCAA Division III institutions were honored in 2011.

The announcement comes a week after a record 10 student athletes earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.

North Central won the CCIW Championship during both the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2011 while placing 17th at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships and seventh at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
