The second-ranked Cardinals opened the week by hosting a decathlon on Tuesday and Wednesday, and Joe Schneiderbauer placed fourth with a total of 6,250 points. Schneiderbauer's total bettered his provisional qualifying mark for the national championships.

He was followed across the finish line by teammate Randal Ellison, who finished fourth in 49.04.
