The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its seventh installment of the National Team Computer Rankings on Wednesday, with the North Central College men's track & field team remaining the nation's No. 2 squad for the fifth consecutive week.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals hold steady at No. 2 after securing 168.90 in the week seven rankings. McMurry University (Texas) remains the top ranked squad in NCAA Division III as the War Hawks tallied 194.79 points. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse held steady at No. 3 with 149.39 points while the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is fourth (125.05). Central College (Iowa) rounds out the top five with 117.16 points. College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Augustana College dropped one spot to sixth with 107.98 points.

North Central captured its 33rd CCIW Outdoor Championship on May 7 in Rock Island, Ill. before securing nine national qualifying performances at last week's Dr. Keeler Invitational. The Cardinals return to the track on Thursday for day one of the Gregory Invitational inside Benedetti-Wehli Stadium.
