Complete USTFCCCA Top 25 Rankings

May 4, 2011--
The North Central College women's track & field squad is 19th in the week five National Team Computer Rankings, released Wednesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals tallied 48.26 points in the fifth installment of the outdoor rankings and are one of two College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin institutions to appear in the rankings. The defending outdoor CCIW and national champion Illinois Wesleyan University is 16th with 54.43 points.

2011 Indoor National Champion University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh supplants Wartburg College (Iowa) as the nation's No. 1 ranked squad. The Titans secured 222.85 points while the Knights fall to No. 2 with 206.46 points. Methodist University (N.C.) rounds out the top three with 117.57 points.

North Central won the 14-team Benedictine University Twilight Invitational on Friday, scoring 170.5 points and winning seven events. For their efforts, Sheila Walsh was named the CCIW Track Athlete of the Week while Kayla Murphy earned CCIW Field Athlete of the Week honors.

The Cardinals return to the track on Friday for day one of the CCIW Outdoor Championships hosted by Augustana College.
