Prevailing in seven events, the North Central College women's track & field team captured the team title at the 14-team Benedictine University Twilight Invitational on Friday night.

The Cardinals piled on 170.5 points in the team standings to outdistance runner-up and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Wheaton College by 45 points. Loyola University Chicago was third at the 14-team invite with 106 points.

Sheila Walsh hit the provisional qualifying standard in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 56.70 seconds to win the event before placing second in the 200-meter dash (26.05) behind teammate Kayla Murphy, who won the 200 in a season-best time of 25.44. Murphy additionally placed second in the pole vault (11 feet, 3 3/4 inches) while collaborating with Lauren Brightmore, Monique DeCap and Melissa Savino to win the 4x100-meter relay in 48.90.

Melissa Savino was the top finishing collegian in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 15.15 while also winning the long jump with a leap of 17' 2".

In the field events, Michelle Criscione cleared 5' 3" in the high jump to win the event while Brianna Tolliver uncorked a toss of 121' 7" to win the javelin throw.

Kala Bingham placed second in the 1,500-meters in 4:58.22 while the Cardinals received third place finishes from Brightmore in the 100-meter dash (12.83), Carolyn Kalafut in the pole vault (11' 7 3/4"), Jocelyn Redlinski in the long jump (16' 9 3/4"), Chelsea Armstrong in the discus throw (125' 4") and Kristine Zizis in the javelin throw (108' 4").

North Central returns to the track on Friday for day one of the CCIW Championships hosted by Augustana College.
