Complete USTFCCCA Rankings

Apr. 13, 2011-- The North Central College women's track & field squad is 23rd in the second installment of the National Team Computer Rankings released Wednesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Cardinals tallied 46.60 points in the week two rankings and were the only College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin squad to appear in the Top 25 rankings. Wartburg College (Iowa) remains the nation's No. 1 squad with 238.40 points followed by 2011 indoor national champion University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (191.74 points).

North Central tied for first at the 21-team Chicagoland Outdoor Championships on Friday and Saturday, finishing with 119 points along with conference rival Carthage College. The Cardinals tallied three event winners at the meet, Brianna Tolliver won the javelin throw (107 feet, seven inches), Kayla Murphy prevailed in the 200-meter dash (25.49) while Linnea Higgins won the 400-meter dash (59.12).

North Central returns to action today, competing at the Wheaton College Twilight Invitational. Field events are scheduled to get underway at 3 p.m. with running events slated to start at 5 p.m.
