This Week's Nominees:
Patrick Peterson, Dunlap (Illinois): Threw a state-leading 67-7 in the shot put at the Gib Seegers Track and Field Classic, winning by a large margin in a field of 44 competitors. Peterson's mark is #3 in the country for sophomores. Also posted 175-11.25 in the discus at Morton Boys vs. Dunlap, Washington, for another victory.
Chase Cutler, Rockton (Hononegah) (Illinois): Started the evening with an upset win in the 100, clocking 11.09 (nwi). Won the 400 at the 58th Annual Prospect Boys "Joe Wanner" Invite with a meet record 46.61, IL#1/US#12.
Dontrell Young, Oswego: Swept the sprint events at the Oswego Roger Wilcox Invitational, winning the 200 in 21.12 (+0.4) and the 400 in 48.53. Placed second in the 100 with a 10.74, ranking among the state's top juniors in all three events.
Isaiah Whitaker, Bloomington (Central Catholic): Cleared 16-8.75 to win the pole vault at the Metamora Mach Speed and Flight Night, posting the top mark among Illinois vaulters this week.
McKenzie Doe III, Chatham (Glenwood): High jumped IL#1 6-11.75 to take first place at the Knight Invite, leading all Illinois juniors in the event this week. Also competed in the 110m hurdles, clocking 15.33 for sixth place.
Daylin Donaldson (Belleville East): Produced another outstanding outing, this time it was at the Triad Knight Invitational. Donaldson won the 110HH in 13.93 (nwi). Later, he anchored his team to a state-leading time in the 4x100 relay, clocking a blistering 41.37. In his final event of the afternoon, Donaldson polished off things in the 300H, rolling to another state lead in 37.20.
Ben Gorsage (Washington): The junior re-emerged at the Morton Distance Gala, competing in the 800m, Gorsage won the event in an IL#2 1:52.32
