Mar. 4, 2011-- One final meet inside the friendly confines of the Al B. Carius Track paid dividends for the North Central College women's track & field team, improving provisional qualifying marks in both relays while adding another in the pole vault at Friday's NCC Last Chance Qualifier.

Kala Bingham, Lauren Brightmore, Sheila Walsh and Amanda Laesch collaborated to finish third in the distance medley relay to open up the meet, shaving over 12 seconds off their previous season best after clocking a provisional qualifying time of 11:53.78.

Krista Cota joined Bingham, Brightmore and Walsh in the 4x400-meter relay, shattering the school record in the event with a provisional qualifying effort of 3:50.01, placing third to close out the night. Cota additionally finished in a three-way tie for first in the high jump, clearing 5 feet 4 1/2 inches.

Carolyn Kalafut was the third provisional qualifying effort for the fifth-ranked Cardinals, winning the pole vault with a clearance of 11' 11 3/4".

No team scores were kept at the meet that serves as the team's final tune-up before next weekend's NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
