This Week's Nominees:
Jamia Esther, Danville (H.S.): Posted the week's top 100m time at 11.50 and third-fastest 200m at 23.97, both victories at the Central Vs. Danville & Urbana meet. The #1 sophomore in Illinois in both events swept the sprints with convincing wins in 20-person fields.
Joi Story, Edwardsville: Swept the throws at the Edwardsville Girls Invitational with a state-leading shot put of 43-9 and discus victory at 151-8. Her shot put mark leads Illinois this season, while the discus throw was the week's top mark nationally.
Mia Sirois, Barrington: the junior star became the first girl to break 10:00 for the two-mile at the Distance Night In Palatine, running 9:59.36. Sirois clocked 9:55.76 through the 3200m
Daisha Brunson, Hoffman Estates (Conant): The multi-talented senior enjoyed a fabulous day at the Homewood-Flossmoor Invitational. She started things off by defeating her friendly rival, Jordan Hamb (Sr., Chicago South Shore) in the 100HH- 13.67-13.87 nwi. Later, Brunson took second in the 200 with an all-conditions personal best mark of 23.86.
Mia Forystek, New Lenox (Lincoln-Way Central): Some called an upset for the junior standout when she defeated a strong 800m field at DNIP. Forystek clocked an IL#1 2:10.91
