Feb. 3, 2011--The North Central College women's track & field squad is 14th in the second installment of the National Team Computer Rankings, released Wednesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The computer rankings are new for the 2011 season. Mathematical formulae based on current national descending-order lists in all events are used to compile a team's ranking. The purpose of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots at the NCAA Division III National Championships.

The 14th-ranked Cardinals amassed 45.16 points in this week's rankings and are one of three College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin squads to appear in the top 25. Illinois Wesleyan University is sixth with 72.82 points while Carthage College is 25th with 31.64 points.

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh sits atop the rankings for the second consecutive week with 177.41 points while Wartburg College (Iowa) is No. 2 with a tally of 154.05. Williams College (Mass.) rounds out the top three, accumulating 122.70 points.

North Central blew away the competition at last Friday's NCC Quadrangular, winning nine of 15 events and accumulating 246.5 points, outdistancing runner-up and 21st-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater by a 99.5-point margin.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, sending a small squad to Bloomington, Ill. for the IWU Pentathlon while the remainder of the team will compete on Saturday at the Warhawk Classic in Whitewater, Wis.
