CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Senior Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) finished second in the 3,000 meters to highlight the day for the Bradley track & field team at the Illini Classic Saturday at the U of I Armory.
Goldkamp, who finished third in the mile last week at the season-opening Iowa Open, ran the 3,000 meters for the first time in her career and took second with a time of 10:16.95 to beat out third-place finisher Karlye Wolff of Wisconsin (10:17.42) and finish 20 seconds behind Illinois' Elizabeth Boyle.
Senior Lauren Fog (Harvard, Ill./Harvard) competed for the first time during the indoor season and finished 10th in the mile as with a time of 5:25.84. Junior Sarah Hallstein (Minier, Ill./Olympia) was one of four Braves to improve their season-best times in the mile, running a 5:50.77 to take 14th.
Fog also was Bradley's top finisher in the 800 meters, placing 17th at 2:31.04, while Hallstein was one of three Bradley runners to improve their time from the Iowa Open in the 800, crossing the line in 20th at 2:39.04. In addition, junior Michelle Hartman (Savanna, Ill./Prince of Peace) ran a season-best time of 1:45.03 in the 600 meters.
Junior Tatierra Bivens (Chicago, Ill./Marist) clocked a season-best time in the 200 meters (30.62) and fellow junior Lyndsey Cleghorn (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) cleared a season-best 1.55 meters in the high jump.
The Bradley track & field team returns to Champaign, Ill., next week for the Illinois Intercollegiate on Saturday.
