Women's Cross Country takes third at NAC Championships

The Spartan women finished in 3rd place.
The Spartan women's cross country team improved 52 points in their final score from last year to this year's NAC Championships, finishing third in the 11 team meet with 86 points.

The Spartans had their top five finishers all come across the line in the top 27 positions and had seven in the top 36 out of 103 runners.

Freshman Krystle Eskridge was the only Spartan in the top 10, finishing ninth with a time of 25:00, while senior Brittany Paller was closely behind, finishing 11th in 25:19. Sophomore Briana Deckard came across the finish line in 16th position with a time of 25:57. Freshman Anna Perkowski finished 26th (26:07) and junior Erin Cinto finished 27th (26:11).

The remaining Spartan runners competing in the NAC Championships with their finishing positions were Alyssa Furman (29th), Amber Walker (36th), Anna Kalnes (62nd), Lauren Michalczyk (68th), Melissa Babos (74th), Britney Carter (77th), Karen Greyer (80th), Alyssa Kruchkow (82nd), Melanie Sovereen (83rd), Stephanie Bateman (94th) and Kendra Hills (101st).

Wisconsin Lutheran College's Katie Schommer won the meet with a blistering time of 22:23. Her time was also the fastest in the history in the NAC by 15 seconds and it set a NAC Championships record by 16 seconds.

AU will next compete at the NCAA Division III Regional on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Credit Island Park in Davenport, Iowa with the meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
