Oct. 19, 2010-- North Central College's Michael Spain has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's cross country Runner of the Week on Tuesday, marking the fourth time this season the senior has earned the award.

Spain claimed top individual honors at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational on Saturday at the Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis., clocking a season-best time of 24:22 for the 8,000-meter course. His time was over 17 seconds faster than the next closest competitor, remaining undefeated (4-0) in races this season. Spain's performance helped top-ranked North Central run away with the team title, the Cardinals amassed 49 points to edge runner-up and eighth-ranked Calvin College (Mich.) by a 29-point margin.

The senior has now earned the award four times this season. Spain was also honored on Oct. 5, Sept. 21 and Sept. 8 while teammate Pat Lesiewicz earned the honor on Sept. 14.

North Central returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 30, traveling to Rock Island, Ill. for the CCIW Championships where the Cardinals will look to secure their 37th consecutive CCIW Championship and 44th overall.
