Matthew Jordan Sets School 8K Record at Bradley XC Classic

Sophomore Matthew Jordan set a CSU record and a new career-best time of 25:55 in the 8K at the Bradley XC Classic

CHICAGO – Sophomore Matthew Jordan (Suffield, OH/Field) (Mogadore, Ohio) set a new eight-kilometer race school record as Chicago State men's cross country finished its regular season slate Friday afternoon at the Bradley Cross Country Classic, held at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill.

“I am proud of Matt for his accomplishment (at Bradley). He has worked extremely hard this season and is very deserving of this honor,” said CSU head coach Wayne Holloway.

Jordan set a new career personal-best time in the 8K after crossing the finish line with a time of 25:55, which eclipsed his previous PR mark of 26:10 that was set on Sept. 17 at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships in Normal, Ill.

“I've been wanting to make the goal of sub-26 (minutes) all season, knowing that gaining the mindset to clear that barrier will put me one step closer to qualifying for nationals,” Jordan stated. “The conditions were perfect, the competition was there, and the training and support from my coaches made it work. I know with more training and hard work, my time(s) will continue to descend to new levels.”

The Cougars travel to Edinburg, Texas on Oct. 30 to compete in the third-annual Great West Conference Championships, hosted by Texas-Pan American.
