WINNECONE, Wis. (Oct. 16, 2010) - The North Central College women's cross country teams took part in one of the largest cross country meets in the Midwest on Saturday, turning in a 10th-place finish in the 36-team University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational at Lake Breeze Golf Couse.
The Cardinals totaled 266 points in the competition. The University of Minnesota-Duluth claimed the team title, finishing with a score of 89. The host Titans tied the University of Chicago for second place, as each posted a total of 116.
Minnesota-Duluth's Morgan Place finished first in the individual competition, completing the 6,000-meter (3.75-mile) course in 21 minutes to lead a field of 499 runners. North Central's
Amanda Laesch put together another solid individual performance, placing fourth in a time of 21:39.
Lauren Hooks was the Cardinals' second finisher, placing 43rd overall in 22:51, while
Kala Bingham (23:08) and
Sarah Ahn (23:09) finished 63rd and 65th, respectively. Krisa Cota rounded out North Central's scoring, placing 106th in 23:42.
The Cardinals are off until Oct. 30, when they travel to Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill., for the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships. North Central will be looking to win a second straight conference title.
