MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Sept. 25, 2010)-- The North Central College women's cross country team competed as a split squad on Saturday, placing sixth at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational behind the efforts of Amanda Laesch while also placing fifth at Lake Forest College's Forester Invitational.

Laesch led the Cardinals in Minnesota, placing fourth overall, completing the 6,000-meter course in 22:04.4 as North Central accumulated 187 points to place sixth at the 32-team invite. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh claimed the team title, finishing with 65 points.

Lauren Hooks finished 30th with a time of 23:46.05 while Kala Bingham finished five places back in 23:50.65. Sarah Ahn placed 49th in 24:08.60 with Amy Schwent rounding out the Cardinals' scoring five, clocking a 24:45.35 to place 82nd.

Maggie Lapinski led the Cardinal contingent at the Forester Invitational, placing 18th after finishing the 5,000-meter race in 20:16. Britney Kravish finished 22nd in 20:29 as North Central finished fifth overall, scoring 120 points. College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rival Wheaton College secured the team title, accumulating 46 points at the 10-team invitational.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, October 1, heading to Somers, Wis. for the Carthage Invitational.
