
Several Illinois high school track and field athletes posted personal records at meets during the week of March 23.
Gage Hickey (Mt. Pulaski) threw 148-2.25 in the discus at the MPHS Home Meet #1 on March 26, improving from his previous best of 108-5.5. The sophomore won the event and ranks #141 in Illinois and #3 among sophomores statewide.
Emily King (Knoxville Senior) ran 11:21.73 in the 3200 meters at the Illinois Top Times Championships on March 27, breaking her previous mark of 11:50.29 set in March 2026. The senior placed 11th of 43 competitors and set a school record while ranking #116 in the state.
Henley Parsons (Champaign St. Thomas More) clocked 2:18.56 in the 800 meters at the Illinois Top Times Championships on March 27, improving from 2:24.17. The freshman finished 7th of 50 competitors and ranks #81 statewide and #3 among freshmen.
Carson Powell (Virden North Mac) cleared 6-3.75 in the high jump at the NM Outdoor Meet #2 on March 25, bettering his previous best of 6-0. The sophomore won the competition and ranks #97 in Illinois and #8 among sophomores.
Blake Janson (Cambridge Jr/Sr) jumped 6-3.5 in the high jump at the Annawan Wethersfield meet on March 25, improving from 6-0. The senior set a school record while winning the event and ranks #102 statewide.
Caylie Ahten (Washington) ran 11:25.65 in the 3200 meters at the Illinois Top Times Championships on March 27, improving from 11:45.31. The senior also set a personal record in the 1600 meters with 5:26.64, bettering her previous mark of 5:31.27.
Emmy Martin (Morton) cleared 5-3.25 in the high jump at the Illinois Top Times Championships on March 27, improving from 5-1.25 set in March 2026. The freshman placed 9th of 31 competitors and ranks #64 statewide and #2 among freshmen.
