ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Senior men's cross country runner Andrew Wieser (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) has been named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week according to announcement by the league office Wednesday.
Bradley's Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week, Wieser ran a career-best 8K time of 25:39 to help the Bradley men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at last week's Illinois Intercolleigate Championships in Normal, Ill. He finished 11th among Division I runners in the field, while surpassing his previous career-best time set during the 2007 season. An accounting major, Wieser owns a 3.69 cumulative grade point average
To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
Wieser and the Braves return to action Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Sean Earl Loyola Invitational in Chicago.
