Sept. 21, 2010 - North Central College's Michael Spain has been selected for his second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Cross Country Runner of the Week Award for the 2010 season.

Spain, a finance and economics major, won the individual championship at the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships at Illinois State University on Friday. He won the 8,000-meter race in 24 minutes, 23 seconds, as North Central placed second to the University of Illinois in the 32-team event.

The second-ranked Cardinals have swept all three of the CCIW's weekly awards this season. Spain also won the award on Sept. 8, and teammate Pat Lesiewicz received the honor last week.

North Central is idle this week. The Cardinals will send squads to the Notre Dame Invitational and the Carthage Invitational on Friday, Oct. 1.
