Women's Cross Country Remains 7th in Regional Rankings

Sept. 14, 2010-- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its first regional rankings on the regular season on Tuesday with the North Central College women's cross country squad remaining seventh in the Midwest Region.

The top seven spots in the rankings remained unchanged from the preseason with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire remaining the Midwest Region's top ranked squad. Washington University in Saint Louis is second with the University of Chicago in third. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is fourth followed by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (fifth), University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (sixth) and North Central (seventh). CCIW rival Illinois Wesleyan University moved up one spot to eighth at the expense of Wheaton College as the Thunder fall one spot to ninth.

The Cardinals finished fifth with 111 points at the Aurora University Spartan Invitational on Friday as the team rested many student-athletes who will represent the College at next week's Illinois Intercollegiates.Sarah Ahn led the Cardinal contingent, placing sixth after clocking a 23:50.9 for the 6,000-meter course. Ann Middleton finished 14th (24:23.9) while Jacki McKown was 33rd (25:24.9).

North Central heads to Normal, Ill. on Friday for the Illinois Intercollegiates held at the Weibring Golf Club. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
