Sept. 8, 2010 - North Central College's Michael Spain has been honored as the first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Cross Country Runner of the Week award winner for the 2010 season.

Spain, a finance and economics major, was the individual champion at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Friday. He completed the 6,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 56.9 seconds, breaking the course record he set in 2009. Spain's performance led North Central to a perfect score of 15 and a first-place finish in the team competition.

The Cardinals travel to Oakhurst Country Club in Aurora on Friday for the Aurora University Invitational.
