Chicago State Cross Country Picked Eighth in Great West Conference Men’s and Women’s Preseason Polls

2010 Great West Conference Cross Country Preseason Poll Release

CHICAGO – Chicago State University (CSU) cross country earned recognition from the coaches of the Great West Conference in its second annual preseason poll that was released today by the league office.

 

Both teams were selected eighth in their respective polls by scoring nine points apiece while Utah Valley were the preseason picks to claim both titles with 64 points for the women and 61 points for the men.

 

In the men's poll, Seattle was picked second with 56 points after finishing second in its first season at the 2009 Great West Championships, while South Dakota was selected third with 46 points and NJIT was fourth with 40 points. Garnering fifth place with 35 points was Texas-Pan American, Houston Baptist was picked sixth with 26 points and North Dakota placed seventh after gaining 16 points to finish ahead of CSU.

 

South Dakota was picked second in the women's poll with a score of 56 points and gaining third-place honors was North Dakota with 47 points. Seattle was selected fourth with 37 points and Texas-Pan American was fifth with 31 points to edge sixth-place Houston Baptist by two points. NJIT captured seventh place with 15 points in the poll.

 

The Cougars kick off their 2010 campaign on Sept. 4 with the UIC Home Opener in Palos Hills, Ill.
