Aug. 4, 2010-- The North Central College women's track and field squad was one of 106 team's honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday, earning the All-Academic Team award for its athletic and academic success.

The Cardinals were one of four College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin teams to capture the award after compiling a CCIW-best team grade-point average of 3.30. Augustana College (3.19 GPA), Carthage College (3.20) and Illinois Wesleyan University (3.23) also claimed the All-Academic Team award.

The squads earned the distinction after compiling a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10 during the 2009-2010 academic year, with 106 program's earning the award.

It is the fourth straight season North Central has captured the award and the third straight season the team has improved its GPA. The Cardinals had a team GPA of 3.24 in 2009, 3.21 in 2008 and 3.25 in 2007.

The Cardinals had three All-Americans and nine conference champions during the 2010 indoor and outdoor seasons, finishing 40th at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Greencastle, Ind. while placing 29th in Berea, Ohio at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
