Cardinals Remain in Front after Second Day

BEREA, Ohio (May 28, 2010) - The North Central College men's track and field team continues to lead the field at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships after the second day of competition on Friday, and will carry a substantial advantage into Saturday's final day.

The Cardinals' 41-point total from Thursday leads the current second-place team, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, by 24 points. 

North Central competed in just one event on Friday, the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Seniors Sean Carlson and Christopher Kane were both in the 16-man field, as Carlson placed 14th overall in a time of 9 minutes, 32.70 seconds and Kane placed 15th in 9:44.01.

The Cardinals will compete in three events on Saturday. Jacob Austin will run in the finals of the 1,500-meter run at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, while Matthew Borchardt will compete in the high jump at 2:30 and Michael Spain and Kyle Brady will take part in the 5,000-meter run at 4:20 p.m.
