CHICAGO – Chicago State women's track & field garnered three top-10 finishes as it placed seventh at the second-annual Great West Conference Outdoor Championships, held in Yankton, S.D., on May 13-15.

Freshman Amber White (Locust Grove, GA/Ola) (Locust Grove, Ga.) led CSU in the sprinting events as she posted a ninth-place finish in the 100-meter dash after crossing the finish line with a time of 12.44.

In the 4x100-meter relay, White teamed up with junior Keshuna Franklin (Chicago, IL/Prosser Career Academy) (Chicago, Ill.), sophomore Neshia Robertson (South Holland, IL/Thornwood) (South Holland, Ill.) and freshman Tosin Idowu (McDonough, Ga.) to capture sixth place after recording at time of 49.50.

Robertson, White and Idowu later collaborated with junior Jasmine Allen (Chicago, IL/Olive-Harvey Middle College) (Chicago, Ill.) to help the Cougars garner a seventh-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay thanks to a time of 4:15.92.

Sophomore Trijaye McDowell (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a personal-best toss of 23-3.75 in the shot put, while fellow classmate Essence Wisdom (Joliet, IL/Joliet West) (Joliet, Ill.) finished 13th in the event with a throw of 33-11.25.

“This year's track and field season for the Lady Cougars has been very challenging.  While many of them have set personal records, I am so very proud of everyone, who has put forth a great effort in their ability to perform well, said CSU head coach Diana Muhammad. “I am looking forward to next year and a big thank you to everyone who has assisted me in the success of the women's track and field team.”
