PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Tuesday after breaking the school record in the 800 meters last week.

Nowak finished second in the 800 meters at the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Sunday, turning in a school-record time of 2:10.04.  She was less than one second behind 800 champion Hollli Hosch of Northern Iowa (2:09.08) and surpassed junior Mary Goldkamp's (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) school mark of 2:11.33, which was set earlier this season.  A mechanical and bio-medical engineering major, Nowak owns a 3.97 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Nowak earned Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this school year and 11th time in her career.
