CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Junior Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North) won the 1,500 meters at the Tony Waldrop Tar Heel Invitational, breaking the school record in the event and Bradley had the two finishers in the field in the 1,500 Saturday.

Goldkamp ran a time of 4:26.76, breaking the previous outdoor school record of 4:27.69 set in 1998 by Mary Ellen Hill-Schupbach during her outdoor All-American season.  In addition to setting a school record, Goldkamp's time is the best in the Missouri Valley Conference this outdoor season.

Following Goldkamp was senior Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake), who finished second in the event with a time of 4:34.66.

"It's a really big step forward for Mary," Bradley Track and Field head coach David Beauchem said.  "Anyone who breaks one of Mary Ellen's records has really done something special.  Now we turn our focus toward getting ready for next week's MVC Championship."

The Bradley Track and Field team returns to action May 14-16 at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Normal, Ill.
