Jamari Ward interview

it was nearly 11 years to the day of one of the best indoor track and field invitationals the state of Illinois had witnessed. Certainly, for the 49 previous editions of the venerable Proviso West Boys Invitational, it was. For the historic mark of 50, it was one that would not be forgotten for a long time.
Among the superstars in attendance in 2015, one that stood out above them all was the superstar junior Ja'mari Ward of Cahokia. The jam-packed, venerable den on the campus of Proviso West HS was already buzzing from the many electric performances from the likes of Kahmari Montgomery (Plainfield Central), Ty Moss (Naperville Neuqua Valley), and so many others.
Ward, who was the main cog of a dynasty program, came in as the nation's top long and triple jumper. In between sand pit events, he competed in two events, including leading off and winning the 4x200 relay with a sizzling 22.2 split.
Back to the pit for the triple jump, it was so electrifying that the Proviso West assistant principal, Mr. Davis, was a fan, taking pictures. Ward did not disappoint. He connected on a 49-foot effort and later hit a massive US#1 50'5" (15.37m).
