Cougar Women Fare Well at ISU Redbird Invitational with Three Top-10 Finishes

Freshman Amber White recorded a PR time of 26.19 in the 200-meter dash en route to a third-place finish at the ISU Redbird Invitational

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's track & field received three top-10 finishes and posted a pair of personal-best records on April 24 at the ISU Redbird Invitational, held in Normal, Ill.

 

Other teams that the Cougars battled against at the meet were the host Redbirds, Northern Illinois, Missouri State, Southern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Bradley and Illinois Wesleyan.

 

Freshman Amber White (Locust Grove, GA/Ola) (Locust Grove, Ga.) paced the Cougars in the sprinting events as she posted a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash after crossing the finish line with a personal-best time of 26.19.

 

Sophomore Neshia Robertson (South Holland, IL/Thornwood) (South Holland, Ill.) later competed in the 400-meter dash and finished the race with a time of 1:03.17 which was good for ninth place.

 

Freshman Essence Wisdom (Joliet, IL/Joliet West) (Joliet, Ill.) posted an eighth-place showing in the discus throw after recording a toss of 68-06. Sophomore Trijaye McDowell (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a personal-best record in her first time competing in the shot put after posting a throw of 22-05.75.

 

The Cougars head to Terre Haute, Ind., this Saturday to compete in the Indiana State Pacesetter Invitational.
