CHICAGO – Sophomore Jonathon Majors (Richton Park, Ill./Thornwood) (Richton Park, Ill.) paced the Chicago State men's track & field at the Iowa Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa on April 17 with a pair of top-10 finishes. Competing in the meet with the Cougars were Drake, Marquette, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois and the host Hawkeyes.
Majors finished fourth in the triple jump after completing a mark of 43-10.75 for his second straight top-five effort in the event, while placing seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.05 after posting a time of 10.97 in the prelims.
Senior Arturs Bareikis (Oak Forest, IL/Robert Morris (Ill.) University) (Oak Forest, Ill.) recorded a personal-best time in the 1,500-meter run as he crossed the finish line in a time of 4:16.15.
The Cougars captured three top-five showings in the javelin throw, led by junior Daniel Fleming (South Holland, IL/Thornwood) (South Holland, Ill.) as he placed third with a mark of 123-09. Junior Xavier Williams (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) (Chicago, Ill.) finished fourth as he recorded a toss of 103-04 and junior Jamal Ephraim (Hazel Crest, IL/Lincoln College) (Hazel Crest, Ill.) captured fifth place as he threw for a mark of 85-01.
CSU returns to action this Saturday as it heads to downstate Normal to compete in the Redbird Spring Invitational, hosted by Illinois State.
