TEMPE, Ariz. - Two weeks ago at the Stanford Invitational, Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North H.S.) set a new school record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.29. The Bradley junior topped her record time by .96 seconds Saturday at the Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State University, earning third place with a time of 2:11.33.
Senior Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake H.S.) also eclipsed Goldkamp's previous 800-meter mark Saturday, crossing the finish line in fourth place at 2:11.70, while junior Leann Murphy (Rochester, Ill./Rochester H.S.) set a new season-best time in the 800-meter at 2:20.51.
In the 1,500-meter run, senior Shannon Seyller (Harvard, Ill./Harvard H.S.) recorded a season-best time of 4:58.61 and finished 24th, while freshman Nicole Benson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) earned 16th place in her first 5,000-meter run of the season with a time of 17:25.47.
The Braves will return to action April 16-17 at the Gateway Classic in Edwardsville, Ill.
