PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior runner Katie Nowak (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after a strong performance at last week's Stanford Invitational.

Nowak started the week with a 12th-place finish in the Section 3, 1,500-meter race as she finished in a time of 4:37.97.

In her second race of the week, she clocked a time of 2:12.54 in Section 1 of the 800-meter race to better her own school record of 2:12.80.  Nowak finished second in the Section 1 race to teammate Mary Goldkamp, who crossed the line in a time of 2:12.29.  A mechanical and bio-medical engineering major, Nowak owns a 3.97 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Nowak and the Bradley Track and Field team return to action Friday and Saturday at the EIU Big Blue Classic in Charleston, Ill.
