CHICAGO (Feb. 25, 2010) – Chicago State University's Jonathan Majors was selected as the Great West Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday. This is the first weekly honor for Majors and the Cougars this season.
The sophomore from Richton Park, Ill., captured the honor after leading CSU with three top-10 finishes and a pair of first-place showings at the UWM Panther Tune-Up on Feb. 19 in Milwaukee.
Majors won the 60-meter dash with a personal-best time of 6.99 and posted a PR mark of 22-10.75 to claim the long jump title. He closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 45-4.25.
The Cougars travel to Vermillion, S.D., this weekend to compete in the second-annual Great West Conference Indoor Championships, beginning this Friday morning at 10 a.m.
